We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer (Mechatronics) to join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation. In this position, you will play a key role in deploying new equipment, introducing product upgrades, and driving engineering projects across advanced labelling and packaging lines within a GMP-regulated environment.
Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Automation, Quality, Validation and external vendors, you will ensure reliable, efficient and compliant manufacturing operations while acting as the subject matter expert for mechatronics.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of new products, equipment and system upgrades within automated packaging and labelling lines.
- Execute engineering and CAPEX projects of varying complexity, ensuring high-quality delivery throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Act as the technical expert for all mechatronics-related topics within Engineering and Maintenance.
- Provide second-line technical support for complex equipment and mechatronics issues.
- Perform root cause analyses and implement sustainable technical improvements.
- Plan and independently execute maintenance and engineering activities within assigned projects.
- Develop and execute technical test protocols and prepare engineering assessment reports.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Manufacturing, QA, Validation, Automation, Supply Chain, Digital and Equipment Engineering.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with GMP requirements and company quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics or another relevant technical discipline.
- At least 7 years of engineering experience, including 5+ years within a manufacturing or operational environment.
- Strong expertise in mechatronics, automation and complex production equipment.
- Experience leading engineering and preferably CAPEX projects.
- Proven analytical troubleshooting and root cause investigation skills.
- Experience working within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with quality and safety standards such as GMP, OSHA and EPA is considered an advantage.
- Willingness to occasionally work outside standard office hours when required by projects.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Basic Dutch is considered an advantage.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
