Mechanical Engineer | Product Development | Grooming & Beauty Appliances
Company Description
A global leader in consumer technology and innovation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Engineering Group (ME) within the Grooming & Beauty division. The company designs and develops cutting-edge personal care appliances — including Shavers, Groomers, OneBlade, Epilators, IPLs, and Accessories — that bring meaningful innovation to millions of consumers worldwide.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary R&D team of system engineers, electronics experts, and design specialists, driving mechanical product development from concept to mass production. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to next-generation consumer products that combine engineering excellence with user-centric design.
Job Description
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical design, implementation, testing, and documentation of modules and components used in Grooming & Beauty appliances. You will translate new concepts into manufacturable designs, ensuring reliability, functionality, and performance through close collaboration with both on-site and offshore development teams.
You will take ownership of mechanical construction in 3D/2D CAD, manage technical documentation, and contribute to the full lifecycle of product realization — from ideation and prototype creation to validation and industrialization.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and detail mechanical components and systems according to product requirements, including performing predictive analyses and calculations.
Select appropriate materials (metal and plastic) and manufacturing processes.
Create detailed 3D and 2D CAD designs in line with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
Manage product requirements, lead DFMEA activities, and work according to the V-model development methodology.
Build and test prototypes; write test protocols, conduct testing, analyze data, and document results.
Drive concept creation through ideation sessions and technical decision-making.
Plan and prioritize work independently and manage interfaces with other design modules.
Develop and validate new test methods and tools in collaboration with Test & Verification specialists.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Systems Engineering, Architecture, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality to achieve product goals.
Capture, document, and share learnings and design choices in the Design History File (DHF).
Archive design documentation in Windchill PLM.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Mechanical Engineering group.
Essential Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical product development for mass production.
Experience working in international, multidisciplinary teams, preferably in Business-to-Consumer (B2C) environments.
Skilled in 3D CAD tools (Siemens NX and/or CREO).
Strong knowledge of mechanical design for plastic and metal parts, including moulding and assembly tooling design.
Experience with FEA (Ansys) and/or CFD analysis tools.
Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to apply both theoretical and empirical methods to solve complex mechanical problems.
Hands-on, proactive, and quality-driven engineer with strong communication and leadership skills.
Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma or Green Belt certification is an advantage.
Experience in medical device design and development is a plus.
