Job Description

We are looking for an Automation Engineer to join the engineering team at our manufacturing facility in Bray. This role plays a critical part in strengthening the site's OT cyber security posture and recovery readiness while actively supporting daily, production-critical automation operations.

In this role, you will focus on executing the site's OT Cyber Security Remediation Program, standardising backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) practices, and deploying the Octoplant platform. You will balance hands-on technical remediation and lifecycle management with day-to-day troubleshooting to ensure maximum uptime, system stability, and strict regulatory compliance within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical, Computer Science, or equivalent)

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in automation engineering within a GMP manufacturing environment

  • Core Technical Expertise: Strong experience in OT systems, including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and underlying infrastructure

  • Required Hands-on Skills: Demonstrated experience in executing backup & recovery solutions, system patching, disaster recovery testing, or OT cyber security remediation programs

  • Required Scientific/Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial networks, OT architectures, and compliance frameworks (GAMP5, ISA/IEC standards, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, and GxP/QA requirements)

Preferred Requirements

  • Additional Experience: Prior experience implementing comprehensive OT cyber security or disaster recovery programs at a regulated site

  • Advanced Technical Skills: Proven track record in multi-system environments (integrating diverse SCADA, HMI, and PLC setups) and handling validation deliverables (FAT/SAT/IQ/OQ)

  • Specific Technologies or Platforms: Experience with backup/versioning tools, specifically Octoplant or similar platforms

  • Industry or Domain Exposure: Deep exposure to high-pressure, production-critical manufacturing environments with strict change control systems

  • Soft Skills or Certifications: Certifications in industrial cyber security standards are highly preferred, alongside strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Practicalities

  • Start Date: As soon as possible

  • Contract Duration: 9 months

  • Location: Bray, Ireland

  • Additional: This is an automation engineering role with a heavy focus on cyber resilience and system recovery discipline, rather than a pure corporate IT security position.
