Job Description
A global pharmaceutical and life sciences organisation is seeking a motivated Associate Scientist – Gas Chromatography (Contractor) to join its Analytical Method & Stability Center (AMSC) within the Analytical Development department, part of the Therapeutics Development & Supply organisation. This contractor position is based in Beerse, Belgium.
The AMSC operates as a center of excellence supporting analytical method development, clinical release, and stability assessment of synthetically designed drugs across their full lifecycle—from early development to commercialisation. The team also drives innovation in chromatographic, physicochemical, in-process control testing, and analytical automation platforms for New Molecular Entities.
In this laboratory-based role, you will collaborate with experienced experts in Gas Chromatography (GC), GMP, and analytical development to deliver robust and reliable test methods for purity determination of raw materials, intermediates, APIs, and drug products. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring patient safety and the successful launch of new therapies.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate and execute gas chromatographic analytical work, including method development, validation, and transfer
· Support project-specific quality attributes through GC testing activities
· Contribute to the expansion of the team’s analytical expertise towards new modalities
· Assess and help implement newly marketed GC methodologies and equipment
· Independently manage assigned projects in line with project and team deliverables
· Apply state-of-the-art analytical knowledge during investigations and troubleshooting
· Ensure compliance with GMP, regulatory, and safety requirements
· Generate, review, and maintain accurate GMP documentation, including protocols and reports
Essential Requirements
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biomedical Laboratory Technology, or a related field
· Minimum of 2 years of academic or industry experience preferred
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Results- and performance-driven mindset
Preferred Requirements
· Technical knowledge of gas chromatographic systems
· Experience with GC method development, validation, and transfer
· Exposure to API process research, in-process control, and GMP investigational testing
· Working understanding of laboratory operations and practices
· General awareness of cGMP regulations and practical implementation experience
· Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
· Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic laboratory environment
