Job Description
A global pharmaceutical organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Process and Equipment Engineer to provide engineering expertise in support of its Neuchâtel manufacturing site, ensuring the continuity and improvement of production activities in compliance with all relevant standards, cGxP requirements, and customer needs. The role sits within the Site Engineering department and focuses primarily on Bulk Production areas.
As the equipment and process Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will provide technical support to users for investigations, recurring issues, required modifications, optimisations, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will also support and contribute to projects of varying complexity across site operations and organisational boundaries, including design, installation, commissioning, qualification, and upgrades of plant and equipment. In addition, you will play a key role in ensuring equipment fitness-for-use, safety, compliance with industry standards, and participation in internal and external audits.
 
Essential Requirements
· Engineering degree (BS, MS, or equivalent) in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Food Processing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
· 7+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry within Process Engineering, Engineering, and/or Manufacturing environments
· Experience in installation, commissioning, and validation of pharmaceutical facilities and process equipment
· Hands-on expertise with process piping and instrumentation, bioreactors, process vessels and storage tanks, chromatography and filtration systems (including filter testing), autoclaves, CIP and SIP systems and processes
· Strong knowledge of Good Engineering Practices, cGxPs, FDA guidelines, ISPE guidelines, ASTM 2500, and ASME/BPE standards
· Ability to act as primary technical contact (SME) for assigned installations and systems
· Experience leading or supporting design, installation, commissioning, and qualification activities
· Ability to proactively identify equipment or system weaknesses and propose corrective actions or improvements
· Experience coordinating corrective actions, improvements, and technical modifications
· Strong problem-solving skills and technical learning capability
· Team-oriented mindset with a hands-on, action-oriented approach
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
· Proficiency in MS Office tools and MS Project
· Fluency in French and English (spoken and written)
 
Preferred Requirements
· Experience with PLC/Automation systems (Siemens and Allen Bradley)
· Maintenance and utilities experience
· German language skills
· Experience participating in internal and external audits as a system expert
· Ability to develop and apply engineering procedures and company standards
· Experience ensuring compliance with safety regulations and implementation of preventive safety measures

Team: Site Engineering / Plant Engineering
Scope: Technical support and project involvement across the Neuchâtel manufacturing site, with primary focus on Bulk Production areas
Additional Project Scope: Support to NFA project, including protocol execution, documentation review, and punch list management/troubleshooting
