Job Title: Equipment Life Cycle Management (ELM) & Automation Specialist

About the Role:
For my client - a global leader in biopharma production based in Leiden, NL - we’re looking for an ELM & Automation Specialist to join the Lab Operations team. You’ll help manage lab equipment and support lab automation systems. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a global biotech environment.

About the Department:
You’ll work in the Analytical Development department, part of a larger R&D group focused on developing new medicines. The Lab Operations team supports lab equipment, automation, and data systems to keep everything running smoothly and in line with regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the full life cycle of laboratory equipment, including introduction, qualification, maintenance, and decommissioning, while ensuring documentation is compliant with GxP and internal quality standards.
  • Provide automation support for lab systems such as Empower, Chromeleon, Unifi, and ICE3—covering setup, troubleshooting, upgrades, and integration with lab processes.
  • Translate user and business needs into technical specifications, and lead or support the design, implementation, and validation of lab systems and software applications.
  • Analyze, develop, and maintain complex lab-related software applications, including documentation, flowcharts, and logic for system integration, ensuring scalability and compliance.
  • Support data integrity, system performance, and continuous improvement efforts, including digitalization of lab operations, paperless workflows, and enhanced data management practices.
  • Work within a cross-functional team and coordinate with global platform projects when needed.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Computer Science.
  • Experience or interest in lab equipment, data systems, or automation.
  • Knowledge of GMP and working in regulated environments.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
