Calibration Engineer
Medical Device Manufacturing & Calibration Systems Engineering
The Nijmegen site is part of a global MedTech network focused on the development and manufacturing of medical technologies. The facility supports engineering, manufacturing, and quality operations that ensure devices are produced with high levels of accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Operating within a highly regulated environment, the site follows strict quality and compliance frameworks such as GMP and ISO standards, supporting safe and effective medical device production while maintaining strong operational performance and audit readiness.
As a Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of measurement and manufacturing equipment used in the production of medical devices. The role focuses on managing the site’s calibration system, maintaining calibration schedules, and ensuring all equipment meets internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
-Ensure all assets are calibrated in a timely, compliant, and efficient manner according to company calibration procedures and standards
-Develop and maintain the calibration master schedule to minimize disruption to daily operations
-Coordinate and prioritize calibration work orders with internal teams and external calibration suppliers
-Perform calibration procedures using applicable calibration standards and methodologies
-Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation in the maintenance management system (e.g., Maximo)
-Evaluate calibration results, determine equipment status, and ensure proper labeling of calibration status
-Identify and segregate non-conforming or overdue instruments according to internal procedures
-Support calibration and qualification of newly installed equipment and integrate them into the calibration system
-Analyze calibration data and establish appropriate calibration intervals to ensure system reliability
-Develop in-house calibration capabilities and contribute to improving calibration methods
-Support equipment preventive maintenance programs to ensure reliable and uninterrupted production
-Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis related to calibration or equipment issues
-Support internal and external audits to ensure the calibration system remains audit-ready
-Generate calibration-related non-conformances (NCs) and support CAPA investigations when required
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Electronics, Metrology, or Instrumentation preferred)
-3–5 years of professional experience in calibration or metrology
-3–5 years of experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing industries
-Working knowledge of calibration systems and metrology principles
-Experience working within regulated environments such as GMP or ISO 13485
-Fluent in English, both written and spoken, Dutch pre
Essential Experience & Skills
-Experience maintaining calibration systems and managing calibration schedules
-Experience performing equipment calibration using certified standards and procedures
-Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
-Experience maintaining technical documentation and calibration records in asset management systems (e.g., ERP or Maximo)
-Experience supporting equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance programs
-Ability to interpret vendor calibration, maintenance, or qualification reports
-Strong collaboration skills when working with internal teams and external suppliers
-Proficiency in data analysis, spreadsheets, and documentation systems
