POCT Specialist (Point-of-Care Testing)
Leiden, Netherlands – Full-Time – On-site / Field-Based


Job Description

This role is part of a clinical diagnostics laboratory environment supporting hospitals and primary care facilities. The POCT Specialist is responsible for first- and second-line technical and operational support of point-of-care testing equipment and processes.

You will serve as the main contact for healthcare professionals regarding POCT systems, ensuring equipment reliability, compliance with quality standards, and effective implementation of new testing solutions. The position combines hands-on technical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, user training, and cross-functional collaboration with suppliers and internal departments.


Essential Requirements

  • Completed MBO or HBO education in laboratory technology, clinical chemistry, or relevant medical field

  • Strong communication and customer-oriented mindset

  • Good command of Dutch (spoken and written)

  • Independent and problem-solving working style

  • Driving license (Category B) and access to a car


Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with POCT equipment and diagnostic workflows

  • Experience in clinical chemistry or hospital laboratory environments

  • Experience performing equipment maintenance and calibration

  • Experience providing user training

  • Familiarity with quality and regulatory standards in diagnostics


Key Responsibilities

First-Line Support

  • Respond to user questions regarding POCT systems

  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues

  • Provide training and user instructions

  • Conduct routine site visits and annual rounds

Second-Line Support

  • Perform root cause analyses of complex technical issues

  • Conduct maintenance and calibration of POCT devices

  • Support implementation of new POCT solutions and protocols

  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal departments on technical and quality matters


Practicalities

  • Contract Duration: Permanent

  • Location: Leiden region (field-based support)

  • Work Model: On-site with travel to healthcare facilities
