Utilities Project Engineer
Utilities / Engineering
Industrial / pharmaceutical production environment with utility infrastructure and process equipment.
The Utilities team manages systems that support the site such as steam, chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, and water systems, as well as equipment in the gel preparation department.
The Utilities Project Engineer supports the Utilities team by planning and executing small technical projects and assisting with maintenance activities related to plant utilities and process equipment.
The role combines project engineering, maintenance planning, and technical problem solving. Projects typically involve improving existing installations, installing new equipment, or optimizing utility systems.
The position works closely with utilities engineers, maintenance teams, EH&S, and external contractors.
The role supports infrastructure such as:
Steam systems
Chilled water systems
Compressed air systems
Industrial water systems
HVAC systems
Kathapac air systems
You will also work with process equipment in the gel preparation department, including:
Mixers
Vessels
Process water systems
Other processing equipment
You will lead or support small technical improvement and installation projects.
Typical project tasks include:
Developing a functional description and scope of the project
Designing the project solution together with the utilities team
Preparing the work execution plan
Identifying required components and materials
Supporting the procurement process
Engaging and coordinating contractors
Preparing work permits for project activities
Monitoring execution of work (technical and safety aspects)
Preparing documentation and technical handover after project completion
Projects typically involve:
Replacing obsolete machine parts with updated equipment
Installing new process or utility equipment
Conducting risk assessments together with EH&S
Developing preventive maintenance plans for equipment
Defining spare part lists for new installations
Replacing piping or outdated instrumentation
Implementing small process or infrastructure improvements
In addition to project work, the role supports daily maintenance activities within the Utilities team.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing work packages for preventive maintenance activities
Reviewing preventive maintenance plans
Updating work instructions for maintenance tasks
Supporting maintenance planning and execution together with the Utilities Head and Utilities Engineer

Good technical documentation skills
