Job Description

A global medical device manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support safe and compliant electrical operations while contributing to and leading capital projects across their Leiden site. This position requires strong technical expertise in electrical engineering, compliance with Dutch electrical regulations, and experience working within regulated industrial environments.

 

In this role, you will act as the electrical subject matter expert for site operations, ensuring all electrical systems comply with NEN 3140, NEN 1010, internal engineering standards, and EHS requirements. You will support operational reliability, contractor management, troubleshooting activities, and the execution of electrical scopes across capital and improvement projects from concept through handover.

 

Essential Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

· Mandatory IV certification: NEN 3140

· Preferred certification: NEN 1010

· Several years of experience within an industrial, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment

· Experience supporting both operations and capital projects

· Strong knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems

· Experience ensuring compliance with Dutch electrical regulations, engineering standards, and EHS policies

· Experience supporting troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical failures and operational deviations

· Familiarity with contractor management and regulated environments

· Experience supporting commissioning, qualification, and handover of electrical systems

· Strong safety mindset and compliance focus

· Structured and analytical problem-solving capabilities

· Ability to work cross-functionally within a matrix organisation

· Strong communication skills in both English and Dutch

· Experience working within a GMP-regulated environment

 

Preferred Requirements

· Experience participating in risk assessments, HAZOPs, and electrical safety reviews

· Experience reviewing and approving electrical designs, specifications, calculations, and technical drawings

· Knowledge of electrical asset management, technical documentation, and electrical dossiers

· Experience coordinating with contractors, engineering partners, and internal stakeholders

· Ability to support reliability, energy efficiency, and maintainability improvement initiatives

· Experience supporting standardisation and engineering best practice initiatives

· Ability to manage priorities across operational support and project delivery activities

· Experience working within highly regulated manufacturing or life sciences environments
