Job Description

A global life sciences organisation is seeking an experienced EI&C Software Application Engineer to develop, configure, integrate, and maintain automation and manufacturing software applications within a GMP-regulated environment. This role requires a strong IT and software background, combined with experience in automation systems, databases, system integration, and GxP-compliant engineering documentation.
In this role, you will develop and integrate solutions connected to DCS, MES, historians, databases, and related manufacturing systems. You will work with technologies including VBA, PowerShell, C#, SQL, and Git-based version control, while supporting software testing, commissioning, qualification, deployment, troubleshooting, and application improvements. You will collaborate closely with Automation, Manufacturing, Validation, Quality, and IT teams and ensure compliance with GMP, cybersecurity, data integrity, and change management requirements.

Essential Requirements

· Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
· Strong IT background with knowledge of software development, databases, networking, and system integrations
· Experience with automation and manufacturing systems such as DCS, MES, or data historian platforms
· Knowledge of programming and scripting languages including VBA, PowerShell, C#, and SQL
· Understanding of software lifecycle management and application support
· Experience working in GMP-regulated environments and creating GxP-compliant documentation
· Experience developing software solutions and integrating systems across manufacturing environments
· Experience with software testing, commissioning, qualification, and deployment
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root cause investigation, and problem-solving skills
· Understanding of IT/OT system integration, data exchange, and system interfaces
· Knowledge of change management and version control
· Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
· Fluent English and/or German

Preferred Requirements

· Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences manufacturing
· Knowledge of DeltaV, Syncade, PI System, or similar industrial software platforms
· Familiarity with software validation, CSV/CSA methodologies, and data integrity requirements
· Understanding of OT infrastructure and cybersecurity principles

Location: Visp, Switzerland
Contract Type: 1-year contract with possibility of extension
Working Model: 100% site-based
