Technology Manager – Fermentation and DSP

For my client – a pharmaceutical company in Spain - I am looking for a Technology Manager with expertise in fermentation and DSP to lead an innovative and driven team.

Job Description
You will play a central role by leading a multidisciplinary team to design new fermentation and downstream processing (DSP) methodologies and coordinate with external partners and CROs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design new fermentation and DSP processes for API production.
  • Oversee laboratory work done by scientists and technicians.
  • Project planning and management to achieve key deadlines.
  • Lead technology transfer to manufacturing sites for successful implementation.
  • Integrate fermentation and DSP methodologies into overall manufacturing processes.
  • Lead collaborations with partners and CROs with a deep understanding of the applied technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and safety regulations in all activities.
  • Achieve project milestones in line with project plans.
  • Promote a strong SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) culture.

Key Requirements
  • PhD or Master’s degree in fermentation, biotechnology, or a related discipline.
  • 10-15 years of industry experience in fermentation science, with hands-on process development and optimization in a regulated environment.
  • Technical expertise in fermentation and microbiology, with deep knowledge of microbial physiology, biochemical engineering, metabolic engineering, and systems biology.
  • Experience with DSP techniques at laboratory scale and scale-up.
  • Strong skills in process development, scale-up/scale-down, process optimization, and statistical data analysis.
  • Proven project and team leadership experience in cross-functional collaborations.
  • Computational and data-handling skills, including process modeling and simulations for optimization.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
