Senior Scientist – Biosensing and Product Development
For a pioneering medtech company in Delft, we are recruiting a Senior Scientist to join an innovative and fast-paced R&D team. This is a unique opportunity to drive the development of cutting-edge biosensing technology that will revolutionize healthcare, starting with a minimally invasive continuous glucose monitoring system (CGM).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working closely with our CTO to tackle technical challenges and performance optimization for our CGM product and our product portfolio pipeline.
Independently designing and implementing R&D activities, including establishing technical requirements, testing hypotheses, improving prototyping and manufacturing activities, designing experimental setups, developing protocols, and analysis methods.
Updating the product’s R&D strategy by proactively identifying problems and implementing possible suitable solutions.
Interest to continuously take on new challenges and learn to deliver results in a complex and multi-disciplinary environment.
Executing the planned activities, while leading other team members in supporting them.
The position is not suitable for remote work and requires ability to handle chemicals and small components in a laboratory setting.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required:
MSc, or preferably PhD, in biomedical or microsystem engineering, materials science, organic/biochemistry, or similar.
5+ years of hands-on experience working on the development and validation of biosensing devices.
Specifically, the candidate should have worked at a biosensing company that has worked with devices measuring under the skin (either implantable or similar to others).
Extensive laboratory experience and engineering best practices.
A track record of experimental work, with systematic problem-solving approach.
Proficiency in statistics and data analysis / interpretation methods.
Excellent internal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and in teams and clearly expose results and requirements.
Additional Meriting Skills:
Product strategy development, and management of engineering teams to reach specific product performance goals.
Basic knowledge of the regulatory process around medical devices in the European Union, including MDR and ISO 13485.
A history of contribution in medtech R&D projects in the fields of wearables or, preferably, class II-a or II-b medical devices, or publications surrounding biosensing.
Previous work on miniaturized medical devices, sensing technologies, and electrochemistry. Ideally, having worked on the development of in-vivo continuous glucose monitoring devices before.
Background in miniaturized medical devices, electrochemistry, or sensing technologies.
Experience in developing CGM devices is highly advantageous.
Practicalities:
Location: Delft, The Netherlands.
Start Date: ASAP.
Contract Type: 6 months contract followed by a direct contract with the company
