For an innovative hybrid Medical Device and Pharma company in Bilthoven, The Netherlands - we are recruiting a Product Development Technician join a dynamic and innovative team.

Position Overview

Responsibilities include the development of existing materials and new material compositions for the Biomaterial technology platform programme.

This includes, but is not limited to initiation, execution and reporting of experiments for material development and validation. The primary scope is to support the development, transfer to production and improvement of company’s products in compliance with QA/RA requirements. Activities, may however be extended for marketing, regulatory, quality, production, or clinical purposes in agreement with supervisor.

Job Specific Duties – Technical
  • Preparation, packaging, and characterization of ceramic and polymer materials
  • Development and improvement of production processes and analytical test methods
  • Preparation of study protocols, including testing and sampling plans and reports
  • Supervision of R&D laboratory areas and equipment (maintenance, calibration, validation)
  • Ordering, shipment, and coordination of external testing
  • Complying to project timelines, company’s quality system, and regulatory requirements
  • Give updates on results in team meetings
  • Detect problems and suggest and / or implement improvements
Job Specific Duties – QA/QC/Regulatory
  • Knowledge of relevant quality systems and regulatory requirements
  • Write and / or review procedures (SOPs) regarding analyses and methods and prepare necessary documentation for eventual regulatory approval of improved handling bone void fillers
  • Identify needs for changes in the Quality Management System

Job Specific Duties - Safety/Organizational/Productivity
  • Know, understand and adhere to all safety standards, i.e., emergency preparedness, chemical, infectious agents and radioactive hazards
  • Participate in the introduction and evaluation of new procedures, supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure proper training of colleagues, students, etc.
  • Use resources (equipment, disposables, time) in a responsible, cost-effective manner

Experience Required
  • MBO/HBO with relevant experience or equivalent
  • Experience with lab techniques
  • Background in chemistry and materials science
  • Experience in the medical device industry
  • Knowledge of regulations – FDA/GLP/ MDR and knowledge of Iso 13485 is a preferred.
  • Location: Bilthoven, The Netherlands
  • Start-date: ASAP
  • Permanent contract
