The EHS department focuses on the proper and safe regulation of safety, environment and health in the workplace. Programs are implemented to prevent and control illness, injury and/or environmental impacts. In order to check and manage this, EHS sets up various systems, risk assessments are performed and colleagues conduct safety and inspection rounds at the workplaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Shaping a sustainability strategy in collaboration with the Director EHS;
  • Improving and developing the SHE culture, including by giving feedback, unsolicited and solicited advice, drawing up an action plan;
  • Carrying out and facilitating risk analyses;
  • Integrating risk management and systems in the management system;
  • Reporting and handling incidents, accidents and calamities;
  • Guiding (of the project leader in) applying for, changing and terminating permits;
  • Advising and supporting with current permits and permit applications;
  • Advising management and employees on safety, health and the environment, taking into account costs and effectiveness;
  • Advising responsible management and responsible employees in the event of incidents, accidents and calamities;
  • Developing and providing training;
  • Developing and conducting audits, external/supplier assessments and supervising external audits;
  • Developing internal and external communication processes in the field of EHS matters;
  • Supervising construction and renovation projects with regard to EHS aspects;
  • Assessing design, construction and production processes with regard to EHS aspects.

During one week every 8 weeks you have a consignment service and you are on call to act in emergency situations.

In this position you report to the Director Environment, Health & (bio) Safety.

Your Profile:

 

  • A completed technical HBO+ education with a post HBO EHS qualification (preferably Higher Safety Science);
  • Approximately five years of experience in the biological, chemical or pharmaceutical industry;
  • Experience and affinity with environmental management, certification and sustainability
  • Technical expertise in the field of general (laboratory) safety, chemical safety, exposure assessment and monitoring, fire safety, use of gases, personal protective equipment, safe working methods, good microbiological techniques and handling of hazardous substances;
  • Knowledge of and experience with assessing design, construction and business processes on SHE aspects;
  • Expertise in risk management;
  • Experience in conducting audits and inspections;
  • Experience in developing and delivering training;
  • Excellent technical, leadership and communication skills;
  • Good command of both the Dutch and English language in word and writing.
 
You also work independently, but you are also someone who can work well together. You show initiative and switch easily with the different layers in the organization. You know how to get people on board and convince them. You are also able to set priorities and you are result-oriented, reliable and risk-aware.
