Job Description

A global pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation is seeking a highly experienced Piping Global Category Expert to manage procurement category activities for investment (Capex) projects, primarily at the Visp site and, if required, across other global sites.

 

In this role, you will coordinate closely with Capex Lead Buyers and Piping Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to plan and execute complex projects in GMP-regulated environments. You will drive category strategy execution, manage supplier relationships, monitor market developments, and lead large and complex RFQ packages end-to-end.

 

You will be responsible for procurement of piping bulk materials, fittings, flanges, supports, insulation, passivation, piping installation services, and design. The role combines strategic category management with hands-on operational procurement execution and active participation in global category initiatives.

 

Essential Requirements

· Engineering background preferred

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in pharma, biotech, or similar sterile environments (e.g. semiconductor clean rooms)

· Minimum 2 years’ experience tendering complex and large piping and/or mechanical packages in GMP environments

· At least 2 years’ experience in category management, including development and implementation of category strategies

· Strong expertise in regional (EU & UK) and local (DACH) markets for relevant categories

· Proven experience leading large and complex RFQ packages end-to-end

· Experience with supplier relationship management and strategic key account management

· Strong negotiation skills (advanced level)

· Experience preparing and managing framework agreements

· Ability to manage demand, supply, and supplier capacity

· Experience monitoring technological and regulatory market trends

· Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

· Ability to deliver market intelligence reports (lead times, pricing)

· Experience optimizing LifeCycleCost (LCC) and reducing total cost (material, transport, ancillary, follow-up)

· Experience coordinating or participating in procurement and efficiency improvement projects

· Advanced professional English

 

Preferred Requirements

· German language skills

· Experience working in Switzerland within Pharma or Capex environments

· Participation in at least one full Capex project lifecycle (early engineering through MC or OQ/PQ)

· Experience handling claims

· Experience in agile project management methodologies

· Advanced contract management experience

· Advanced degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, Trade, or Economics

· Procurement or Supply certifications (e.g. CIPS)

Location: Visp, Switzerland (Hybrid – 2 days home office, 3 days on-site)

Contract Type: 12 months
