Scientist - iPSC work and Genome Editing
We are looking for a scientist with experience culturing pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and using CRISPR genome editing technologies. The candidate will mainly support neuroscience drug discovery programs and will be involved in a pooled CRISPR screen with single cell RNA-sequencing read-out (Perturb-seq) in iPSC-derived neurons.
Education
- PhD in cell biology, molecular, genetics or related biological life science
Skills and experience required
- 4+ years hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
- Experience with stem cells
- Cell line engineering using gene editing techniques (CRISPR/Cas systems)
- Standard cellular and molecular biology techniques, including transfections, viral transductions, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Quantitative Reverse Transcription PCR (RT-qPCR), western blotting.
- Design of experiments
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Being able to work under time pressure
- Accuracy and precision in the lab
- Strong communication skills
- Full Proficiency with English
Preferred
- Experience with assay development and high-throughput screening
- Experience with single-cell RNA sequencing
- Background in neurodegenerative disease
- Fluency in Dutch or French is not required, but it is a plus.
Practicalities
- Location: Beerse, Belgium
- Duration: 1 year contract – with possibility of extension
- Fulltime: 40 hours/week
- Onsite – 10% can be spent working from home
